| No Refrigeration Required
Because of the unique and proprietary processing methods used in the manufacture of Wakunaga's Probiotics, the bacteria are stable at room temperature and therefore do not require refrigeration. The reason other probiotics DO require refrigeration is similar to why we refrigerate our food.....it slows down how quickly it spoils. However, the process is only slowed down, not suspended, and this does not guarantee that at the time of consumption you are not taking a bunch of dead bacteria. Due to our sophisticated and careful processing method, our bacteria are dormant and do not become active until introduced to moisture, as when consumed with a liquid. Shelf-life data collected over more than three years by an independent laboratory has confirmed greater than 109 viable cell counts for each of Wakunaga's Probiotics35,36. At room temperature (25°C), each of Wakunaga's Probiotics maintained its high viable cell count for three years (see figures below).
L. acidophilus have been shown to retain their viability for up to six years at room temperature according to measurements of retained samples. Such stability makes Wakunaga's Probiotics ideal supplements for both traveling and daily use. (For optimal shelf life, humidity, high temperatures and direct sunlight exposure should be avoided.)
